Individual Registration

Use this form if you are applying to register for the first time or if you are already registered elsewhere in Australia or New Zealand (under Mutual Recognition).

To be eligible to apply for registration you should have completed an accredited degree in Australia (Master of Architecture or similar), or have had your overseas qualification assessed as equivalent to an Australian qualification and have the necessary experience in architecture (e.g. passed the Architectural Practice Examination or assessed under another pathway). Your application fee and registration fee can be paid via the secure payment gateway when you have completed the form.

Automatic Mutual Recognition

Architects registered in all states and territories of Australia (except Queensland) can complete this Notification Form identifying your intention to practice in South Australia.

Fees are not payable and you will be deemed to be registered once the ‘Notification Form’ has been lodged and accepted. You must maintain your registration in your home jurisdiction (principal place of residence or principal place of work) to continue to be eligible to maintain your registration in South Australia and you must maintain your good standing as an architect in all jurisdictions where you are registered. All architects from Queensland should complete the ‘Individual Registration’ form under Mutual Recognition.

Company Registration

Companies providing architectural services in South Australia must be registered.

To be eligible to register as a company at least 50% of the Directors of the company must be registered as individual architects in South Australia. A certified copy of the ASIC Certificate for the company must be uploaded along with PI Insurance details.

Partnership Registration

As for companies, a legal entity that is a Partnership providing architectural services must be registered.

At least 50% of the Directors of the partnership must be registered as individual architects in South Australia. A certified copy of the ASIC Certificate for the partnership will must be uploaded along with PI Insurance details.

APE Candidate

Candidates applying for the Architectural Practice Examination (APE) for Parts 1 and 2; and separately for Part 3 in the current APE session.
