Application and Fees: Architectural Practice Examination

To apply for the Architectural Practice Examination, you must sign in - on the right hand side menu - and complete the Application Form for Parts 1 & 2; and Part 3 when you have successfully completed Parts 1 and 2.  

You can also apply to attend the briefing session by signing in, and selecting the Briefing Session.  You will be given an Event Confirmation form which you should print out and bring to the briefing session, together with photographic identification (drivers license or similar).  

Before completing the Application Form for Parts 1 & 2, make sure you have your Logbook and Statement of Practical Experience completed and the Statutory Declaration appropriately signed, and in one pdf and in the order set out on the application form (so that it can be uploaded with your Application Form).  It is advisable to follow the guidelines in the APE Part 1 checklist to ensure your Logbook and Statement of Practical Experience and other required documentation which can be downloaded from here.  When you have completed the Application Form, and uploaded your pdf document, you will be taken to the payment page for payment.  

Fees for the various parts of the Architectural Practice Examination are on the relevant Application Form (available at sign in).  

PART 3 CANDIDATES - IMPORTANT INFORMATION.  Please note that if you are re-sitting Part 3, or have deferred Part 3, or have passed Parts 1 and 2 interstate but wish to sit Part 3 in South Australia - you must notify the Registrar of your intention to sit Part 3 at least one week before the scheduled date of the NEP in the session you wish to sit Part 3.  Click on the following link to read the Pathways document   Part 3 APE-Interstate-candidates-and-resits.pdf

Session 1:

  • 4 February 2020 at 10.30 am: Briefing for Candidates
  • 18 February 2020 at 3.00 pm: Closing date for Applications for Part 1 & 2, and submission of Logbooks
  • 14 April 2020 - notification of intention from interstate Candidates/candidates resitting Part 3 or who have deferred Part 3 in the recent past
  • 21 April 2020 at 10.30 am: National Examination Paper (Part 2)
  • 28 April 2020 at 3.00pm - closing time for Interstate Candidates/candidates resitting Part 3 or who have deferred Part 3 in the recent past
  • 26 May 2020: Oral Examination (Part 3)

Session 2:

  • 2 June 2020 at 10.30 am: Briefing for Candidates
  • 16 June 2020 at 3.00 pm: Closing date for Applications for Parts 1 & 2, and submission of Logbooks
