The Architects Accreditation Council of Australia Incorporated (AACA) is the national organisation responsible for establishing, coordinating and advocating national standards for the registration of architects in Australia and for the recognition of Australian architects overseas by the relevant Registration Authorities.

AACA is constituted of and accountable to, all State and Territorial Architects' Registration Boards in Australia. It is not a Registration Authority and can only make recommendations to the various Boards. The decision for the registration of architects lies solely with the Boards. More information on the role of AACA is available from www.aaca.org.au

The Australian Institute of Architects (AIA) is the national professional body for architecture in Australia. The Institute aims to represent the views of its members, to advance architecture, to maintain the integrity and standing of the profession, to promote the profession's views nationally and internationally and to encourage the study of architecture. More information on the role of the AIA is available on www.architecture.com.au

The Architectural Practice Act 2009 commenced on 1 January 2011. This Act replaces the former Architects Act 1939 which was repealed on the same date.
